Biography work
Understand your story and see new connections.
Biography work explores a fundamental question: can recurring patterns be recognised in human development? From learning to walk and acquiring language through losing baby teeth, school and puberty to adulthood and midlife, we encounter typical developmental tasks. Their timing and significance, however, differ from person to person.
Biography work informed by anthroposophy looks at life in seven-year periods. These offer orientation for looking back, rather than rigid rules. We revisit memories of each phase, consider them in relation to typical developmental questions and gain an overview of our own life — its patterns, connections and lessons.
Biography work can take place individually or in a group. We begin with the family’s genealogical structure, work through the seven-year periods and then use different techniques to make patterns and repetitions in your life visible.
The aim is not to judge the past, but to understand it as a foundation for conscious next steps. Recognising your own patterns gives you the freedom to continue them or change them.
