Biography Work 60+

A life has much to tell.

As the years pass, it is not only the number of our memories that grows. Experiences, decisions, encounters, farewells, new beginnings and different stages of life come together to form a deeply personal story.

Biography work offers an invitation to consciously engage with that story.

  • What has shaped me?
  • Which people and experiences have been important?
  • Which challenges have I overcome?
  • What has developed throughout my life?
  • What would I like to preserve or pass on from my story?
  • And what may still emerge?

The purpose is not to judge or explain one’s life. It is about giving memories space, recognising connections and discovering new perspectives on one’s own life story.

Individually or together

Biography work can take place in an individual conversation or as part of a group.

In individual sessions, the person’s own life story is at the centre. There is space to explore experiences, stages of life, turning points and personal questions at one’s own pace.

In a group, another dimension emerges: people tell their stories, listen to one another and discover similarities and differences in their paths through life.

One person’s memory can awaken memories in others. Conversations develop, experiences are shared and different life stories meet.

In this way, biography work can not only enrich the way we see our own life story, but also encourage encounters and exchange, strengthen existing social connections and allow new ones to develop.

How do we work?

Depending on the situation, conversations, memories, photographs, stages of life, drawings, biographical questions and other creative impulses can become part of the work.

There is no life history that has to be worked through and no story that has to be told in full.

Each person decides what they would like to share and what they prefer to keep private.

The individual’s own pace and life story remain at the centre.

Your life story as a resource

A life consists of more than what has happened.

Our stories contain experiences, abilities, relationships, decisions, challenges we have overcome and personal development.

Some remain very present. Others gradually move into the background.

Biography work can help bring these experiences and resources back into view and allow us to perceive our life story more consciously as a whole.

Who is it for?

Biography Work 60+ is for people who would like to consciously explore their life story and the stage of life they are in.

Different questions and wishes can become part of this process: rediscovering and preserving memories and experiences, recognising connections throughout one’s life, becoming aware of personal resources, exchanging experiences with others, or consciously looking towards what may still lie ahead.

Transitions can also provide an occasion for biography work. Retirement is one example: What changes when professional life comes to an end? What do I want to carry forward from my life so far? And how would I like to shape the new time that becomes available?

Individual sessions provide space for one’s personal life story. In a group, encounter, exchange and the experiences of others add another dimension. Existing social connections can be strengthened and new ones can develop.
